Comprised of seven towers of colourful, stacked boulders standing more than thirty feet high Rondinone's stacked boulder sculptures stand out in the barren desert setting. The vibrant colours are an obvious contrast from the earthy, dull surroundings. You can't actually tell if the rocks are In fact organic or man made. This piece named 'Seven Magic Mountains' was most famously placed in the desert outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. This placement was symbolically mid range between the dessert and the city. Commenting on natural phenomena and its reformulation through art. Mediating between geological formulations and abstract compositions, it looks at the relation between humans and their environment.

I love the reformulation through art, the sculpture has been focused on natural formulations, then translated and reimagined to be placed back into a completely organic setting to communicate this dialogue. I aim for my art to communicate this dialogue between the naturally occurring and the translation of that through art in order to create an evolved, reimagined likeness. I like how he doesn't make it about shaming man for his impact on the world, but finds a middle ground and peacefully conveys the message through this beautiful arrangement. I do however feel like if I were to situate my sculptures outside then I would do it temporarily, to give the message of transience, just like everything in the natural world. And id like to think that somehow I will be able to return my art beck into nature, without the plastic based plaint and damaging materials.
